Sustainability in our operations

We promote sustainability in our operations and corporate infrastructure for two reasons. First, it’s good business and the right thing to do. And second, it’s important to many of our stakeholders that we participate in the transition to a low-carbon economy — which means that we take that transition even more seriously. We do it by collaborating with customers to create action plans that reduce emissions related to their supply chains through technology-enabled route optimization, load consolidation and process automation.

Partnering with a global customer to achieve ESG goals


Kering, a renowned group of luxury brands, sought to consolidate its global logistics operations, while optimizing shipping and storage capabilities and increasing delivery speed. The new solution must include a contemporary fulfillment center with best-in-class sustainability features to align with Kering’s commitment to reduce the carbon footprint of its supply chain operations.


Kering turned to GXO, its longstanding logistics partner, to create a 160,000 square meter logistics hub in Italy from the ground up. This state-of-the-art distribution center combines cutting-edge technology, advanced automation and numerous sustainability features, including enhanced ventilation systems, optimal indoor temperature and humidity controls, and individually adjustable lighting. Innovative auto-packing technology is used to reduce packaging waste.


  • The site design meets the highest standards of workplace wellbeing and is on track to be the first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Platinum-certified warehouse in Europe
  • The rooftop solar system alone — the largest implementation of its kind in Europe — is estimated to reduce CO2 by 7,500 tons a year
  • When fully operational, the facility will produce more energy than it consumes, with excess energy transferred to the national power grid and distributed to Kering’s stores and offices throughout Italy
